Ferocious fighting in Vanni Kills 610 Sri Lankan SF Injures over 700

Mulaitivu: Ferociously heavy battles ensued between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan Security Forces (SF) in many areas in Vanni. At least 610 SF troopers were killed and over 700 SF troopers were wounded, according to the Voice of Tigers (VoT).



There were also reports of a Black Tiger mission, the radio said. Meanwhile, ambulances were seen rushing casualties to the hospitals in Colombo.



Past few weeks, the sources in Vanni said, LTTE counter attacked the Sri Lankan Security forces in many fronts and killed large numbers of SF troopers and while inflicted injuries to unprecedented level of SF troopers, and fighting continue to rage between LTTE and SF, sources added.



At least 2800 civilians including over 700 children were killed over 7000 injured within past two months of sustained SF shelling into civilians’ settlements in Mulaitivu, including government designated 'safe zone' according to the UN Human Rights Commissioner, Dr. Navaneetham Pillai.
